Abstract
Background: Systematic review is considered the best and strongest level of evidence. Cochrane reviews are systematic reviews, but developed based on the steps of the Cochrane Collaboration. Cochrane library is still not known to many Physicians in Arab countries. Many Physicians are not using the information provided by the Cochrane reviews. The challenge is how to enhance Cochrane review synthesis in a developing country? Moreover, systematic review synthesis is still not a priority amongst most Arab Physicians. We have started a move towards synthesis of Cochrane reviews through establishing a Cochrane review Initiative Project (CRIP) at King Abdulaziz Medical City-KAMC-Riyadh-Saudi Arabia.

Objectives: To produce 10 Cochrane reviews within one year starting Jan 2005, through a well structured training program.
Target Groups: Research oriented physicians from King AbdulAziz Medical City or any health institution across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Methods: We adopted four phases to complete the reviews. The duration of each phase is ranging from 3-6 months, and each phase consists of a main training workshop for 2 days, monitoring by a Cochrane reviewer and support.

Results: The project started at January 1 2005, until today, April 17 we completed 7 protocols.

Discussion: Physicians from Arab countries can participate actively in the Cochrane Collaboration in producing Reviews, This can be supported through structured training programs. Our example can be applied to other countries as well.
