Abstract
Objective: The aim of this workshop is to:

1. present an educational intervention planned for the SEA-ORCHID project including the key points of the intervention, types of skills of the people involved, the types of planned activities and educational methods
2. promote discussion on educational methods that could be applied to improve the use and synthesis of evidence in developing countries
3. share experiences with participants and obtain feedback for refinement of the intervention

Description: Developing country participation in the Cochrane Collaboration is still low resulting in the generation and implementation of evidence relevant to health care in developing countries being slow. SEA-ORCHID (South East Asia - Optimising Reproductive and Child Health in Developing Countries) is a five-year project that aims to find out if an educational support programme to increase the capacity for research synthesis, implementation of effective interventions and identification of gaps needing further research, can improve the health of mothers and babies in Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Malaysia. The details of the intervention will be specific to each study site and informed by pre-intervention data. Further information about the project is available at www.sea-orchid.org.

Target audience: People with an interest in educational interventions to support the uptake of evidence and those with an interest in strategies to improve developing country involvement in the Cochrane Collaboration

Style: Discussion workshop
