Abstract
Objectives:

1. To provide a brief introduction to meta-analysis of continuous outcomes.
2. To discuss more complex issues surrounding meta-analysis of continuous outcomes.

Description: The main focus of this workshop will be discussion of more complex issues surrounding meta-analysis of continuous outcomes, however, a brief introduction to meta-analysis of continuous outcomes will be provided. Topics that will be covered include: data extraction for continuous outcomes including extraction of standard deviations from standard errors, confidence intervals, t-statistics, p-values; dealing with outcomes measured on different scales; options for pooling estimates of intervention effect when a mix of results from analyses using change from baseline and final values have been reported; incorporation of results from analysis of covariance; use of the generic inverse variance.

Target audience: Review authors

Style: Training workshop
