Abstract
Background: Handsearching throughout represents an indispensable complement to the electronic search for an identification of all the clinical trials developed. A Venezuelan database of Randomized Controlled Trials (RCT) does not exist. So, The Venezuelan branch of the Iberoamerican Cochrane Network (ICN) launched computer software to make this searching more efficient.

Objective: To facilitate the search, control, management and storage of RCT designed and developed in Venezuela.

Methods: The software is written in Spanish. It only requires a small space in the computer' hard drive, in order to store the RCT, and allows the use of the operative system and the Internet. It is developed in a Data Base Manager System (DBMS) that is free access software with a General Public License (GPL). The name of the driver is Postgre SQL, version 7.

Results: The software is expected to make easier the manual search and management of the Venezuelan RCT that can use it in the ICN.
Conclusions: The Venezuelan branch of the ICN hopes to make easier the construction of the Venezuelan RCT database as well as the data base of other countries that belong to the ICN, facilitating the work towards the medical decisions making in the era of evidence-based medicine.
