Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this workshop is to provide Trials Search Co-ordinators (TSCs) and Review Group Co-ordinators (RGCs) with the knowledge and skills that are necessary to create and submit databases of trials using ProCite. Specifically, upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Import references directly from MEDLINE into ProCite;
2. Import MEDLINE-downloaded text files into ProCite;
3. Create ProCite reference management databases for journal article citations not included in MEDLINE; and
4. Apply data entry specifications for journal citations not present in MEDLINE.

Description: ProCite is a reference management software that provides great flexibility for creating, manipulating, and importing references, and is therefore widely used among Cochrane Review Groups and Fields for managing references being submitted to CENTRAL. This workshop will provide instruction in using ProCite, with each participant working from a computer workstation with ProCite installed. Guidance will be provided in importing references directly from MEDLINE into ProCite, importing MEDLINE-downloaded text files into ProCite, creating ProCite reference management databases for journal article citations not included in MEDLINE, and applying data entry specifications for journal citation data not present in MEDLINE. Additional topics that may also be covered include downloading web pages into ProCite and creating ProCite references for reports of unpublished studies, ongoing studies, books, and book chapters. The guidance provided in the workshop will be based on instructions in the CENTRAL Management Plan. The purpose of this workshop is to assist TSCs and others with their submissions to CENTRAL, and contribute to the quality of the CENTRAL database.

Target audience: TSCs, RGCs and others who submit databases of trials to CENTRAL.
