Her journey begins by discovering and successfully launching an innovative educational program, 'Survivors Teaching Students’, of the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance for third year medical students at UC San Diego reflecting outstanding success in two short years. To reach practicing medical doctors, she partners with a gynecologic oncologist in his grand rounds at major hospitals. Her commitment as a guest speaker, facilitator, or writer for community outreach efforts, blossomed into a voice for the ovarian cancer community on a local, national, and international level. Her diverse advocacy efforts are outlined from attending medical conferences as a research patient advocate, participating as a consumer reviewer, and legislative advocacy for ovarian cancer funding. With appreciation for the advances in research, her poster highlight’s patient advocates' roles as the bridge between the scientific/medical world to the patient community and to work hand-in-hand to advance research and impact change to better serve both communities.
