Abstract
Background: The Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (short GRADE) Working Group began in the year 2000 as an informal collaboration of people with an interest in addressing the shortcomings of present grading systems in health care. The working group has developed a common, sensible and transparent approach to grading quality of evidence and strength of recommendations. Many international organizations have provided input into the development of the approach and have started using it.

Objectives: To promote the dissimination, development and implementation of GRADE system in China.

Methods: To set up center, provide training courses, give lectures and develop guidelines

Results: GRADE working group established the Chinese GRADE center on September 24, 2011. Professor Holger Schu¨ nemann, co-Chair of GRADE working group unveiled the plaque for Chinese GRADE center, and gave two lectures The Development Of Evidence Based Medicine and How To Develop Evidence Based Guidelines. Chinese GRADE center also involved in the development of Evidence-Based Guideline for Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy in Term Infants (2011).

Conclusions: The Chinese GRADE center is the second GRADE center in theworld, and the first GRADE center in Asia. The missions of Chinese GRADE center include (1) introduce and disseminate GRADE system in China; (2) hold GRADE workshops regularly, train Chinese guideline developers and systematic reviewers and (3) translate GRADE work and GRADE software into Chinese and promote the implementation of GRADE system.
