Abstract
Objectives:
Social media is not just useful for maximising engagement at events; we’d argue it’s indispensable! Social media has the power to transform the breadth and quality of your participation in events such as conferences and to increase your impact and reach. In this workshop, we’ll show you how useful it can be, share some top tips for using it effectively, and hope to send you away better able to use it!
Description:
The main focus of the workshop will be on Twitter, a really important tool for engaging at events, and we will give you some hands-on experience of live tweeting using TChat (www.tchat.io) and at creating a living archive of an event using Storify (storify.com). The Colloquium will give you a great opportunity to try out your new skills! The workshop is suitable for people with any level of experience with Twitter but you will need to have Twitter & Storify accounts in order to participate in the activities. The workshop will be made up of a presentation and discussion and two activities. Participants are encouraged to bring their own devices or laptops to participate.
