Abstract
Objectives:
The implementation of the Cochrane Register of Studies (CRS) saw the migration of 52 specialized registers into one bespoke application and has highlighted some significant variations in the content of common fields. The CRS provides an opportunity to standardize and harmonize certain aspects of record management which will benefit all users of Cochrane's content.

Description:
The session will begin with a short introduction to the harmonization initiative (HarmoniSR): its aims, methods and progress to date. Data will be presented from the CENTRAL clean-up project and from a survey of Trials Search Coordinators regarding their approaches to register management. In small groups, we will focus on a different record type such as conference publications, trial registry records and study records. Each group will consider what a ‘best practice’ record should look like in the optimal way from map record fields to CRS fields. We will also consider the use of controlled vocabularies and other data types by which to define fields within records forms.

The final part of the workshop will be whole group discussion around two key questions:
1. What will a standardized dataset enable us to do?
2. What is needed, technically speaking, to enable its implementation?

The workshop is aimed at Trials Search Co-ordinators and those who manage, populate, or develop specialized registers.
