Abstract
Objectives:
To contribute to the development of editorial guidance and policies associated with updating Cochrane Reviews around authorship, peer review, and the updating classification system for Cochrane Reviews of interventions.
Description:
This workshop will focus on editorial processes with the aim of contributing to the Cochrane Strategy to 2020 target 'Up-to-date'. It will follow on from a two-day meeting on updating systematic reviews held in Hamilton, Canada, in June 2014. The workshop will focus on three areas discussed during the updating meeting: authorship of updates; peer review of updates; and the updating classification system. The updating classification system, which will be implemented in 2014, allows editors firstly to categorize whether the Cochrane Review addresses a historical or current question, if it is up-to-date, and whether it is likely to be updated in future. This system is intended to be for the benefit of readers of Cochrane Reviews and Cochrane editorial teams can also use the system to help with prioritization decisions. The workshop will begin with a short presentation about the work completed in Hamilton, and then participants will be divided into groups to discuss one of the topics. Participants will be encouraged to share their experiences and contribute to the draft guidance and policies. The final part of the session will be feeding back the discussions, and all participants working together to create a list of recommendations.
