Abstract
Objectives:
Research priority setting exercises for Cochrane groups help to define the most urgent and pressing questions that need to be addressed by an up-to-date systematic review and are most likely to positively impact public health and patient care. The Cochrane Agenda and Priority Setting Methods Group (CAPSMG) developed a conceptual framework to guide future priority setting exercises and the Campbell & Cochrane Equity Methods Group has also conducted a priority setting exercise to incorporate social determinants of health for osteoarthritis. We intend to address and discuss in this workshop:
- the best approaches to engage with target stakeholders; and
- how to reach and address the needs of disadvantaged groups.

Description:
The workshop will have three parts.
1. Introduction on research priority setting and the equity lens developed by CAPSMG.
2. Introduction of the Evidence Sandwich Model (ESM). The framework of the three step ESM revolves around 'evidence' being sought and evaluated between two sets of priority discussions to ensure value judgement and trade-offs in a transparent and accountable manner between various stakeholders.
3. Small groups will work and focus on research priorities for one or two specific neglected public health priorities in India. We intend to come out with a document based on the discussions of this workshop.
