Abstract
Objectives:
The purpose of this workshop is to demonstrate how to use the Cochrane Collaboration’s software 'Review Manager' (RevMan) and highlight some of the features in RevMan 5. In addition it will provide an opportunity to practice and use the software.
Description:
RevMan is used by Cochrane authors to conduct their Cochrane systematic reviews. RevMan 5 is user-friendly and has many features that, if used correctly, can make the process of writing a review easier. The text editing features include extended text character support, including Arabic and Chinese. Multiple links, for example 'tostudy' references and 'figurescan' be added with fewer clicks of the mouse. RevMan has a split screen option for viewing the text of the review.
Features to enhance data entry and analysis include a calculator tool as well as quick toolbar buttons for switching between effect measures. The risk of bias names and descriptions have been reworded and items can be reordered. It is also possible to edit 'Summary of findings' (SoF) tables within RevMan. A PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) flow-diagram to show the flow of references through a review can be created within RevMan.
During this practical session participants will be shown how to use the software and get hands-on experience.
Workshop format will be a demonstration and practical session aimed at novice users of the software.
