Abstract
Objectives:
To gain insight on common statistical and methodological errors encountered in Cochrane Reviews and associated MECIR (Methodological Expectations of Cochrane Intervention Reviews) standards.

Description:
This workshop will concentrate on activities focusing around MECIR standards of conducting a systematic review (SR) and associated common errors. The emphasis will be on more advanced methodological and statistical topics. There will be an ‘activities’ and 'error' leaflet organised and distributed by MECIR, around which the workshop will be built. Participants will be asked to work through the distributed ‘activities’ leaflet, in small groups of three to four people, in order to ‘spot the problem’, followed by a brief discussion around the ‘problems’ (directed by the presenter), how to spot them, how they affect the quality of a review and how to avoid them. Facilitators will be circulating in the room to discuss the activities. Brief summary presentations on the resolution of the ‘problem’ and associated information will be offered by the presenter, as required. For example, on the topic of ‘analyzing cross-over trials', a set of activities will be available where participants will discuss a set of problematic analyses, how to deal with the problem, and what effect it may have on their review. A short summary presentation may follow, if required. Related sections of the ‘Database of common errors’ and its functionality, will also be presented.
