Abstract
Objectives: The objective of the workshop is to equip participants with the key skills to produce a high quality scientific poster for presentation at meetings as a powerful tool in knowledge translation and evidence communication of reviews.
Description: Poster sessions at conferences and meetings are standard communication channels for both researcher and professional health care communities. Cochrane authors have the opportunity to use poster sessions to share their work and translate it for the audiences attending these meetings. Research undertaken by Wiley in 2013 with early career researchers highlighted that there were both real and perceived barriers to submitting to poster sessions including difficulty in their production; lack of skills in knowledge translation; experience in synthesising work into a poster format and length; and challenges in physical production of a poster. Using real examples of Cochrane Reviews from the Renal Group (and others) we will share top tips on how to create a high quality poster with the most impact and give a hands-on practice evaluating and creating Cochrane Review posters. Bringing a laptop equipped with PowerPoint and RevMan will enable participants to have some hands-on experience.
