Abstract
Objectives: To introduce ROBIS, a new tool to assess the risk of bias in systematic reviews; to provide participants with the opportunity to use ROBIS, and to provide feedback on the value of the tool.
Description: ROBIS is a new tool for reviewers conducting overviews to assess the risk of bias in included systematic reviews i.e. assessing the risk of bias in the review itself not the primary studies included in the review. The workshop will be split into two parts.
1. Introduction to ROBIS: During the first part we will provide a brief overview of the development and structure of ROBIS. We will discuss the process used to develop ROBIS and present the final tool, along with the background document and illustrate how to apply it. We will also describe different approaches to presenting ROBIS assessments.
2. Applying ROBIS: The second part will provide participants with the opportunity to apply ROBIS to an example review. Participants will work in small groups and each group will assess the example review according to one or two of the ROBIS domains. We will then regroup to feedback the results of the assessment to the wider group and to discuss any issues that arose during the assessment process. The whole group will then work together to agree an overall judgement about the risk of bias in that review. All feedback on the tool will be recorded.
