Abstract
Objectives: To engage with participants (Cochrane Review Group (CRG) staff including Co-ordinating Editors, Managing Editors, Trials Search Co-ordinators and authors) to understand how they consider the needs of guideline developers in planning and managing review updates; describe a novel approach to updating Cochrane Reviews (CRs) that might better address the needs of policy makers and other decision makers; explore the opportunities and challenges associated with working with guideline developers; as well as developing ideas around how we as an organisation can improve our processes and procedures for working with guideline developers. A separate workshop by the same team will focus on the opportunities and challenges from the perspective of guideline developers and other policy makers.
Description: The workshop will involve group discussion on the experiences of working effectively with guideline developers and other policy makers; we want to understand how CRGs and authors feel able/unable to meet their needs. Targeted updates may be one solution to difficulties already identified. We will describe the process of developing these rapid resources which are based on CRs, but update only a limited number of relevant comparisons and outcomes. We will work with participants to understand and summarise their views about the process, whether they believe the product will be of value to them by facilitating full CR updates, and whether it will meet the need of end-users.
