Abstract
Objectives: To:
- Identify the needs of Trainers.
- Exchange experiences with Train the Trainer (TTT) courses.
- Work out particularities of teaching Cochrane and evidence-based (EB) methods.
- Consider implementation of training.
- Develop a rough outline of a specific Cochrane TTT course.
Description:Within Cochrane and EB health care, people conducting training rarely are didactic experts or professionals, but rather are enthusiastic and passionate people who love to impart knowledge and skills, and share experiences with others. This workshop assesses specific needs of Trainers, revealing possible skills to improve in future TTT courses. It will identify the needs of Trainers (e.g. didactic training), and exchange previous experience. The process, including a short introduction (10 min), will be guided in a structured way and contributions will be noted down. The facilitators will give inputs according to their own teaching and TTT experience, but will not switch to a classic format. After working out particularities of teaching Cochrane methods, all notes will be displayed on a projector. The needs – translated into Trainer skills that could be improved within a TTT course – will be prioritized using an interactive voting system. Subsequently, a rough outline of a realistic and implementable, multi-modular Cochrane TTT course will be drawn up. Feedback will go to participants, and also inform the Cochrane Trainers’ Network for future TTT-activities.
