Abstract
Background: Many Cochrane Groups work with Guideline Developers (GDs) and other external partners to ensure that Cochrane Reviews are relevant to their information needs. As part of its knowledge translation activities, Cochrane continues to look for strategies to facilitate uptake and use of our evidence. Cochrane Targeted Updates (TUs) are short documents that use the Cochrane Review as their foundation, but focus on updating only one or two important comparisons.

Objective: This interactive session will discuss the opportunities for, and challenges of, producing TUs. The workshop will describe a Steering Group-funded pilot project to produce TUs. We will provide feedback from GDs and participating Cochrane Groups, as well as the findings from a survey of all Cochrane Groups.

During the workshop, we will:
1. demonstrate some early examples of TUs;
2. present feedback from GDs on the value and acceptability of TUs;
3. discuss the experiences of the Cochrane Groups involved in their production;
4. provide findings from a survey of all Cochrane Groups on TUs;
5. invite input and further discussion with workshop participants based on the key findings of the project.
The links between TUs and other Cochrane innovations and technological developments will also be considered.

The information gathered during the workshop will be used to support future planning, particularly considering ways of optimising Cochrane Group involvement in TU production.
