Abstract
Objective: To help put the ‘evidence’ into evidence-based policy making in healthcare systems by working effectively together.

Description: It is understood that research or evidence does not automatically translate into policy in healthcare systems. Although policy makers and researchers in healthcare systems may approach issues from different perspectives, they are striving to achieve the same end – that is, to improve health outcomes. In the South Korean healthcare system evidence is currently employed in the national vaccine program, public health programs, insurance coverage decision making, and patient safety, etc.

The Korean cases mentioned above will be shared with the participants as well as different examples from other countries including European countries, Australia and the USA. In particular, we will cover current use of evidence for policy decision making in healthcare systems in different countries, barriers to transferring evidence to policy decisions and future steps to improve the effective use of evidence for policy decisions. The workshop will facilitate a better understanding of evidence-based policy decision making in healthcare systems using examples and experience of using evidence for policy decision in various regions and countries.
