Abstract
Objectives: To introduce the process of developing, updating and disseminating trustworthy recommendations with the GRADE (Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluations) system and the MAGICapp (www.magicapp.org).
Description: Clinical practice guideline developers face challenges in the creation, dissemination and updating of trustworthy recommendations. Using an innovative guideline authoring and publication platform (MAGICapp) applying the GRADE framework may overcome these challenges.
We will start with an example of use of the GRADE framework for guideline development, from a structured clinical question in PICO format to the making of evidence profiles and recommendations with supporting content, like decision aids and coded terminology for integrations with clinical systems. Participants will split into groups, simulating guideline panels developing a recommendation for a clinical issue. Participants, with help from MAGICapp, will follow all steps from clinical question to final recommendation. They will phrase a PICO question, develop an evidence profile and go from evidence to recommendation according to GRADE. Participants will author their evidence summary and recommendation in a multilayered presentation format and see the end result published on a variety of devices through the MAGICapp.Participants will get hands-on experience with the MAGICapp in the creation of evidence summaries, treatment recommendation and decision aids.
