Abstract
Objectives: To enable Cochrane Review Groups to plan development and support programs for their editorial teams.

Description: Development and support for editorial teams is an essential part of Cochrane's quality improvement program, and a priority identified by many Cochrane Review Groups. This workshop will provide a practical opportunity for editorial teams to plan their own development and support strategy drawing from a range of new resources and models. The facilitators will present brief updates on three topics: the findings of a consensus project to identify core competencies for editors of biomedical journals and training resources for Cochrane editors to achieve those competencies; the latest policy updates and common errors identified by the Cochrane Editorial Unit, as communicated through their screening tips and webinars for Review Groups; and models used by Cochrane Infectious Diseases and Cochrane Anaesthesia, Critical and Emergency Care for regular editorial meetings. Following each presentation, participants will break into small groups to discuss how each element might be incorporated into co-ordinated development and support plan for their own editorial teams. Participants will be encouraged to share their own strategies and contextual factors and adapt their plans accordingly. Support will be provided following the workshop to enable Review Groups to refine and implement the plans developed, including access to software, training resources and advice.
