Objectives: To discuss strategies to incorporate outcome importance in guideline panels and to explore the appropriate presentation format for outcome importance evidence.

Description: This is the first of a two-workshop series on patient outcome importance.

It is crucial that guideline developers consider how patients or those affected by clinical decision-making value the main outcomes associated with alternative patient management strategies. This includes determining the typical importance or values for each outcome under consideration, the variability observed, and the quality of the available evidence. In this workshop we will discuss these aspects in depth using examples. Sessions will be interactive combining short presentations and small group work.

In the presentation, we will provide guidance on how to interpret evidence profiles to present this type of evidence. This includes an overview on how to rate the certainty of the evidence and how to assess variability in values.

In the small groups we will present a new tabulated format (e.g. summary of findings table) that participants will have the opportunity to assess.
