Abstract
Background: Cochrane is an international organisation with members and supporters from around the world. Cochrane wants health decisions everywhere in the world to be informed by high-quality evidence. We have to be able to communicate clearly with each other within our diverse community. And we need to communicate about our evidence in such a way that people with different backgrounds can understand it. Much of Cochrane’s material is translated into different languages and formats. The clearer the source material, the easier it is to translate.

Objectives: to share with participants of all backgrounds simple rules that they can use to write clearly to other people and about their reviews, in order to improve communications to different audiences and within the Cochrane Community.

Description: we will introduce and explain simple rules and tools that everyone can apply when they write in English or other languages, whether it is emails to colleagues, or results of their reviews. Facilitators from non-English-speaking countries and consumers will explain with concrete examples why it is important to consciously write clearly. Workshop participants will practice the rules with examples from different scenarios: communication with colleagues or about reviews.
