Abstract
Background: the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) Statement was published in 2009 and designed to help authors of systematic reviews prepare a transparent report of their review. Authors and journals have widely adopted PRISMA, as evidenced by its 40,000 citations and endorsement from over 400 journals. We have updated the PRISMA statement to address various advances in systematic review methodology and publication practices, and to rearrange the layout and rephrase existing items to increase clarity.

Objectives: to introduce the PRISMA 2019 statement, provide participants with an opportunity to apply the checklist to a published systematic review, and to gather feedback on the revised checklist items.

Description: the workshop will begin with a brief presentation about the development and key innovations of the PRISMA 2019 statement. The presentation will be interactive, and include opportunities for questions and comments from participants. We will then ask participants to form small groups (three to five people) and evaluate how well a systematic review on a health-related topic adheres to the PRISMA 2019 checklist. Facilitators will circulate round each group to provide direction and assistance. A group discussion will follow to allow participants to share their thoughts on the completeness of reporting of the systematic review, and to assess the level of agreement in assessments. The workshop will conclude with a facilitated, structured discussion to gather insight and suggestions for improvement on the PRISMA 2019 checklist from the participants. We will also invite participants to complete a survey to provide additional feedback.
