Abstract
Background: The CONSORT (Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials) Statement was developed to help biomedical researchers report randomised controlled trials (RCTs) transparently. There is a lack of specific reporting standards or guidelines for social work intervention trials, and the social work interventions may not report with sufficient accuracy, comprehensiveness, and transparency to replicate these studies, assess their quality, and understand for whom and under what circumstances the evaluated intervention should be delivered. The guidance and checklist for reporting social work intervention trials strives to improve the reporting quality of intervention trials in social work.
Objective: To develop an extension to the CONSORT 2010 Statement for social work interventions to help social work scientists report these studies transparently.
Methods: We will follow the Enhancing the QUAlity and Transparency Of health Research (EQUATOR) network’s toolkit for developing a reporting guideline in six stages: Identifying the need for a reporting guideline, getting ready: Literature reviews, registration, and funding, developing reporting guideline, writing up and publishing reporting guideline, disseminating reporting guideline, and updating reporting guideline.
Results and conclusion: This study is ongoing, and results will be presented at Colloquium as available.
