Abstract
"Background: The ""Handbook of Evidence-Based Psychological Practice (EBPP)"" represents a significant innovation in the Brazilian mental health landscape, offering an unprecedented approach to integrating the latest scientific research into psychological practice. Traditional publications in this field have seldom been updated with new findings, leading to a gap in the application of contemporary evidence-based practices, especially in a country where education in evidence-based psychology has not been fully integrated at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Objectives: The primary goal of the ""Handbook of EBPP"" is to enhance the capacity of professionals, academics, students, and the general public in reading and interpreting biomedical literature relevant to psychology. By doing so, it aims to promote evidence-based psychological practices that improve the quality and effectiveness of mental health care.

Methods: The handbook is meticulously structured into three comprehensive sections. The first section delves into the conceptual and historical foundations of EBPP, setting the stage for understanding its importance. The second section is dedicated to methodological approaches, offering detailed guidance on formulating research questions using the PICO framework, efficiently searching electronic databases, and critically appraising scientific documents. It emphasizes the significance of experimental design, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses in establishing evidence-based practices. The third section evaluates the efficacy, effectiveness, and safety of various psychosocial interventions, underscoring their relevance in the prevention and treatment of mental health disorders.
Results: Although specific outcomes of the handbook's impact are not quantitatively measured in this abstract, its comprehensive approach fills a crucial void in the Portuguese-speaking mental health community. It serves as an essential resource for disseminating scientifically supported mental health practices and provides a solid foundation for evidence-based psychological care.

Conclusions: The ""Handbook of EBPP"" is a pivotal resource that addresses the critical need for evidence-based psychological educational materials in Portuguese. It aligns with the Cochrane Collaboration principles, ensuring that clinical recommendations are transparent, thoroughly evaluated, and continually updated. This handbook significantly advances psychological practice and individual well-being, reinforcing a commitment to ethical and evidence-based clinical practices.
