Abstract
"Background: Brazilian Ministry of Health (MoH) publishes Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) that establish criteria for diagnosing the disease or health problem; the recommended treatment, with drugs and other appropriate products, when applicable; the recommended dosages; clinical control mechanisms; and the monitoring and verification of therapeutic results, to be followed by managers of the Unified Health System (SUS). In order to synthesize the evidence, facilitate the implementation of CPGs and reach a wider readership, the MoH has developed and published summary formats of CPGs. These documents consist in just a few pages, bringing the summarized information in a more attractive way, with visual resources, the new layout brings relevance to patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals. The translation of knowledge aims to guide and support managers, professionals, patients and interested parties.
Objectives: To describe the number of summary guidelines developed by the MoH in 2023.
Methods: Descriptive study about summary guidelines published in 2023. All publications are deposited on the website of the National Committee for Health Technology Incorporation (CONITEC)ª.
Results: A total of 39 summarized CPGs were published in 2023. Among the main summaries developed by the CPG, the following topics were published: Spasticity, Adrenal Insufficiency, Ulcerative colitis, Osteogenesis imperfecta, Systemic lupus erythematosus and, Aggressive Behavior in Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Conclusions: The summarized guidelines are part of a set of strategies to promote greater stakeholder engagement in the CPG implementation. These documents are of great relevance to Brazil's public health system, as they use knowledge translation strategies to improve dissemination and implementation of evidence-based CPG. Health professionals can use summary guidelines to access CPG recommendations and improve the quality of care for patients.
