Abstract
Introduction. The problem of dementia will affect the overall daily life and quality of life of patients with dementia. We focusing on nurses-lead activities and social participation of prevention dementia. Objectives: The main objective of this scoping review was to summarise evidence on the strategies of dementia prevention in home or community care. Methods and analysis. We conduct a scoping review focused on clinical guidelines for Prevention of dementia including prevention and social participation. The main databases queried were CINAHL, OVID, JBI evidence summary, UpTodate, Google, NICE guideline, and others, published full-text articles in the database. The languages of the literature were Chinese and English. Two independent reviewers screened articles for relevance to inclusion criteria. The results were presented in a Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) flow diagram, and the extracted data are presented narratively and in tabular format. Results. This review contains 13 articles, most of which were published between 2017 and 2023, from systematic literature meta-analyses and guidelines. Moderate to vigorous aerobic exercise is recommended at least once a week for home or social institution cases, which can help reduce the risk of dementia. Use multi-sectoral interventions, including recall therapy, occupational therapy, and regular exercise programs, to help improve cognitive function, and social engagement were also recommended. Conclusions. Currently available guidelines allow various approaches to prevention dementia. The findings of this study provide an comprehensive evidence-based recommendation for community nurses to develop nursing intervention to prevent dementia.
