Abstract
Abstract: Since 1995 the Cochrane Neurological Network (CNN) has worked to create a link between the Cochrane Collaboration and neurological health workers. The CNN main activities are the Database of Neurological Reviews, the Cochrane Neurological Newsletter and the organisation of educational workshops. The Database is a collection of reviews on prevention, treatment and rehabilitation in 20 neurological and neurosurgical areas. The reviews are continuously selected from the CDSR and the DARE. Some reviews of possible clinical interest have been identified from Medline and Embase, without quality selection. The Database has been updated twice a year since Issue 1,1996 of the Cochrane Library. At present it contains 685 reviews: 107 CDSR, 114 DARE, and 464 from other sources. A methodological evaluation of the quality and clinical relevance of the reviews in the Database is under way. The first Cochrane Neurological Newsletter dates back to 1995. It provides an up-to-date summary of neurological Cochrane Review Group activities and has space dedicated to readers' and consumers' opinions. It has six sections: News; Reports of Neurological CRGs; Letters; Workshops and Meetings; Notice Board and "Orange Pages" (summary of useful reviews). It is mailed to 600 neurologists all over the world. Educational Workshops were proposed to the main European neurological societies, to be run during their national and international meetings. To date the CNN, with help from the neurological CRGs, has organised six workshops to teach how to read systematic reviews on "hot" neurological and clinical topics.
