Abstract
Background: Early in 2009, constituents through the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization US-Mexico Border Office requested training to conduct their own Cochrane reviews. Different tools and technologies were used throughout the process for workshop preparation, delivery and follow-up. Barriers can exist to conduct in-person training limiting the ability to fulfil training needs and enable participant capacity. We feel that Cochrane entities may benefit from scoping available resources and technologies at their disposal to enhance their training efforts. Objectives: To develop a sample working model for Cochrane entities to consider adapting for their own in-person training events. Methods: We will scope online training modules (available and in development), including slidecasts, podcasts, videocasts and other related modules available within the Collaboration. We will exclude standalone PowerPoint slides, hands-on exercises and other training resources that are used mainly for standard, in-person Cochrane training. To create the sample working model, resources and technologies to complement, incorporate, or used as adjunct to the in-person training mode will be incorporated in the sample model. We will include resources and technologies available to the authors of this abstract. Results: We will provide a list of online training modules and the sample working model. Conclusions: Cochrane entities can consider available resources and the sample working model when adapting to in-person training events.
