Abstract
Objectives:

To discuss key issues in the development and maintenance of Living Systematic Reviews: a systems approach to keeping reviews up to date.

Description:

There is growing momentum to develop systems to enable systematic reviews to be updated frequently, so that primary research findings are rapidly incorporated into review outputs. Recent developments in information and communication technologies (ICT) present significant possibilities to help realise this goal of ‘living’ systematic reviews. The workshop will provide an opportunity to discuss the key issues in the development and maintenance of Living Systematic Reviews, including: • crowd sourcing contributions; • text mining for search and screening; • workflow and collaboration platforms; • data repositories; • meta-analytical approaches; • maintenance of methodological quality; and • management of authorship groups and publication processes. Researchers with experience in each of these areas will present a brief overview of key issues and participants will discuss the methodological and feasibility barriers to Living Systematic Reviews and how these might be overcome.
