Objectives: To provide participants with advanced knowledge and understanding of Embase content, indexing policies and search options in an interactive, advanced Question and Answer (Q&A) session.
Description: This advanced Q&A session for experienced Embase users will cover a number of commonly queried subject areas and will provide a forum for answering questions from workshop participants. Topics will include: automatic versus manual indexing in Embase — including a discussion of what content is manually versus automatically indexed; how selecting ‘As major focus’ affects search results; the formatting of conference abstracts records and the coverage of conference content in general; the application of Drug and Device terms in Embase; Embase content coverage in various clinical areas and how the relevance ranking works. We’ll also discuss the overlap between MEDLINE and Embase content and take a look at how best to apply saved searches, session history and export functionality.
Workshop attendees are encouraged to bring any questions or challenges they may have encountered when using Embase. The workshop will consist of a brief presentation, followed by a discussion and Q&A session, with examples. Participants are requested to bring their laptops, if possible.
