Side effects of treatment of COVID-19 with drugs or medical devices: systematic review and case report

Abstract
Background: In the early stage of the outbreak of new coronary pneumonia, the treatment of COVID-19 has been in the exploration stage. The initial use of drugs and medical device adjuvant therapy inevitably also produced some side effects. However, it is unclear to what extent the side effects appear.

Objectives: To systematically analyze side effects of the treatment of COVID-19 with drugs or medical devices.

Methods: PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang and China Biology Medicine disc were searched to 6 April 2020 using the search terms (MeSH) “SARS-CoV-2”, “COVID-19”, “2019-nCoV” and “2019-novel coronavirus”, etc. Case reports or case series which reported information on side effects of treatment of COVID-19 with drugs or medical devices will be included. The characteristics of the study, interventions, the information on side effects or adverse reactions and so on will be extracted and comprehensively analyzed.

Results and conclusions: This study is ongoing and results will be presented at the Evidence summit as available.
