Abstract
Background: This evidence and gap map (EGM) came from A Map of Evidence Relating to Sustainable Development in Low- and Middle-Income Countries EGM report but also including high-income countries.
Objectives and Methods: This map aims to present EGMs on interventions relating to the sustainable development goals (SDGs) across different sectors while outcomes are categorized according to the 17 SDGs. The map includes all countries across income groups but excluding country evaluation maps. The EGM reports a descriptive overview including characteristics of evidence available and implications of maps for policy and practice. This map is also intended to support evidence architecture for SDGs.
(Preliminary) Results: The map included 70 studies from the earlier data extraction and 85 studies from the new search. Most of the EGMs have been done in the health, nutrition and population sectors, targeting health outcomes which is SDG 3 (46 records). This followed by maps in the education intervention sector and targeting health outcomes as well. 39 maps have also been finished under the education sector and targeting education and learning outcomes (SDG 4). Evidence or maps targeting SDG 14 outcomes on marine life and SDG 17, outcomes on global partnership are most needed. There are 33 ongoing maps included, 88 maps are focused on low- and middle-income countries, and 41 maps are focused globally.
Conclusion: It is crucial to regularly update maps to align with sustainable development goals. This ensures that the latest evidence on key issues is tracked and helps identify gaps that need to be addressed through focused research efforts.
