Abstract
Background
Internet-Based Sharing Nursing Service on Breast Massage (IBSNS-BM) is an emerging “online application and offline service” model, which has brought great convenience to patients with acute mastitis and hypogalactia in postpartum, but there are some drawbacks affecting its usage, including higher charge, lack of professional health guidance.
Objectives
To investigate the preferences and demand of patients with acute mastitis and hypogalactia in postpartum for IBSNS-BM and provide evidence-based reference for relevant policy formulation.
Methods
With the guidance of Technology-Organization-Environment theory, scoping review, group discussion and pre-experiment were carried out to determine the inclusion of IBSNS-BM attributes. A discrete choice experiment survey was conducted on patients with acute mastitis or hypogalactia in postpartum and the question example of questionnaire is shown in Table 1. The mixed-logit model was constructed to elicit patients’ preferences, estimate their willingness to pay, analyze the relative importance on IBSNS-BM. The study was conducted at a third-class hospital in Beijing, China, from November to December 2023.
Results
A total of 100 patients participated in the study and 97% of them were willing to access to IBSNS-BM. While the patients preferred the 200 yuan services, in order to receive IBSNS-BM with five-star platform user evaluation, nurse service experience >10 years, visit speed within 30 minutes, strong supervision, health education and follow-up, two-nurse visit, they would like to pay an extra 288.2 yuan, 151.7 yuan, 151.7 yuan, 125.2 yuan, 74.8 yuan, 62.6 yuan, 36.6 yuan, respectively. The relative importance of seven service attributes is ranked as follows: service expenses > nurse qualifications > platform user evaluation > visit speed > safety guarantee > hospital or third-party supervision > health education and follow-up, seen in Figure 1.
Conclusions
It is recommended for the government and hospitals to strengthen the publicity of IBSNS-BM, reasonably pricing service and improving medical insurance payment policies, integrating the nursing resources and strengthening nurses’ professional ability training, along with effective measures to ensure the safety of nurses and patients and intensifying oversight of service to promote IBSNS-BM’s implementation and help the patients to obtain more health benefits.
Statement
Not co-designed with the public and/or consumers.
