Abstract
Background and Objectives: Our organization was conceived by leaders from the health sector in Chile, Colombia, Brazil and Trinidad & Tobago. Our objective is to promote interdisciplinary and transnational collaboration to institutionalize evidence-informed policymaking (EIPM) in our region.
Methods:
•Connect: We conducted workshops and disseminated material related to (EIPM) through social media and bi-monthly newsletters.
•Understand: We developed and shared evidence ecosystem analyses to identify challenges and opportunities in health, education, and security areas.
•Build Capacity: We conducted training workshops and co-developed knowledge translation products such as rapid responses, translations of original works in English into Spanish and Portuguese, and a glossary of EIPM terms.
Results: We are successfully building a regional collaboration network, supported by stakeholders from different sectors, promoting knowledge production and transfer actions such as:
•Workshops on evidence ecosystems in Chile, Colombia, and Brazil, emphasizing health, education, and public safety sectors.
•A regional workshop, ""enLACe 2022,"" with registration from over 350 individuals from 21 countries, including researchers, government representatives, and policy managers. The goal was to exchange experiences, tools, and research and build a common working agenda.
•Construction and validation of a glossary of EIPM terms in Spanish, Portuguese, and English through workshops.
•Collaboration with regional and international organizations to conduct and co-organize workshops, translation and research related to EIMP (e.g. translation of plain language summaries; interviews and workshops with evidence intermediaries and users from Chile, Colombia and Brazil).
•Publication and participation in international events and blogs to share and discuss collaborative works.
•Matchmaking between regional organizations (currently promoting collaboration with colleagues from Chile, Argentina and Peru to implement innovative tools to strengthen EIPM in their countries).
Conclusions: We have experienced the power of synergy in strengthening EIPM in our region. Through interdisciplinary and transnational collaboration, Hub LAC has recognized the ongoing need to promote regional networking. This involves facilitating the exchange of ideas, experiences, problems, and innovative solutions among evidence actors/organizations and their colleagues in LAC to institutionalize EIPM in our countries.
