Abstract
Title: Using systematic reviews to make decisions about research: moving beyond health science

Aim: To discuss the use of systematic reviews in making decision about research (planning and interpreting results) across scientific disciplines.

Moderator: Hans Lund (chair of Evidence-Based Research Network).

Speakers:
Jan Minx (Climate research)
Merel Ritskes-Hoitinga (Animal research) INVITED
Emily Sena (Animal Research) INVITED
Marit Skivenes (Social Science)
Karen Robinson (Health Science)

After introduction, each speaker will provide a brief presentation from the perspective of their discipline about the role of systematic reviews in making decisions about research.

Questions each will address will include:
How are decisions about research currently made (which questions to pursue, which methods to use, and how to report)?
Are systematic reviews used in making decisions about research? If not, why not? What other approaches are used?
Would it be beneficial to share and develop approaches across scientific disciplines—and if so, how?
